Dec. 29th, 2005 @ 11:01 pm What?
I've really been vegging this week. I went in to work on Wednesday, but there was hardly anyone else there so I headed home early and worked from here. I didn't even try to head in today, after the freezing rain we got last night, I couldn't get the truck out of the laneway if I tried. I've spent quite a bit of my time since Sunday reading, knitting and watching movies. So far I've managed to watch: Saw, Bruce Almighty, Soylent Green, a CSI marathon and tonight I headed out with some of the 'wits to see Fun with Dick and Jane. I've read "Evergence I: The Prodigal Sun" by Shane Dix and Sean Williams, "Aftermath" by Charles Sheffield, and a tonne of People mags *g*

And of course, I'm knitting a pair of socks from the shipment I received just before Christmas. My slug-like activities have confirmed the fact that I won't be running on New Year's eve this year. I actually don't know what we'll be doing this year. Hubby's been working on the sleds all week, he's managed to get mine running, and has done a bunch of reconstruction on the hood too. So if we wanted to, we could head into the cottage. I'm not sure what the weather will be like - there might not be any snow left!

I could do with another month and a half of this. I already know I've got a tonne to do starting next week, and of course, I've got classes starting up again. I guess all good things really do come to an end. *sigh*

EDIT: Beetlejuice! How could I forget watching Beetlejuice? (Nope, I won't be saying it a third time).
Who does she think she is?

I'm really glad I saw it, I was afraid it was going to be a gory type thing, which I'm really not into, but I was able to watch the whole thing!

The ending just totally did a mind-fuck! I was like "wait! no!" I still can't believe all that stuff.

Yep, although hubby did tick me off, he called it as soon as the scene opened on that room! I'm still trying to figure out if he's just watched too many of these, or if he's a sociopath *g*.

Your icon is making me giggle.

I can't believe that both elkster and I missed it when we watched it. I can honestly say I was completely clueless up the end.

And can I offer you a brochure? We have excellent dental benefits!

I loved Saw and would have killed my hubby if he had said that out loud in the begining. He knows better; at times I don't even read movie reviews, because they give too much away. *g*

I have to say, your knitting obsession has gotten me to think about it. So, what should I do to start? Figure I have zero experience with this. So, please be gentle. :)

Before I start the happy dance *g* our guesses are wrong more often than they are right, so I happily ignored him...

Okay - on to the knitting. The most important thing to remember is that there are only two stitches in knitting - the knit and the purl. Every pattern is made up of what you do with them. http://www.bernat.com/learntoknit.php.

I would do a couple of things - I would find your local yarn store (LYS) - it will generally be filled with helpful, nutty knitters (not to mention shelves and shelves of glorious wool!) The first pattern I tried was a simple baby blanket - square, not too complicated, and fairly small, so I didn't get too frustrated. I know others that have also selected dishcloths and scarves for the same reason. This baby blanket is actually just a big dishcloth pattern (I've used the same thing with lacy wool to make a shawl too *g*). Here are about a billion patterns - if you have some idea what you'd like to try I could suggest a pattern - as could your LYS.

Hope I haven't scared you off, if you have any questions I'll gladly answer *g*

I didn't think I could either I thought it would be more gory and less mind stuff, but I do enjoy a good psychological thriller.

It is pretty darn freaky. This was actually the first time I had seen it, although I had heard that famous line forever. Thought provoking to say the least.
