symian mentioned the group 50bookchallenge this morning, so of course I toddled over. I thought it would be a cool place to keep up with my reading list from my 101 things in 1001 days list, and that I might get some great reviews, but holy crap, I made the mistake of leaving them in my default view, and easily 45 of the first 60 posts on my friends page were from that community. I do not have the attention span to weed through that! I've taken them off default view for now, but I find I tend not to get to the communities that aren't on my main friends page, so we'll see...

Played girlie poker last Thursday, I took $50 of my hard earned Christmas money and turned it into $110. So how should I spend it?

Some of the guys at work are putting on their version of The Biggest Loser. $20 to join, 1/2 goes to Roger's House, the other half goes to the winner. Final weigh-in is 16 weeks from now, and winner is judged based on percentage of body weight lost. I should lose around 30lbs (considering I put on 20 last year how hard can it be?), I want to get into shape to get back to playing hockey and I want to enter the National Capital Race Weekend 5k this year again. Losing 20 gets me to 12.9% loss, but it would be a hell of a workout. Sadly, it would also mean that my newly formed relationship with one of my Christmas toys would be put on hold. I just can't seem to see using it to whip up some low-carb energy bars. It would be a misuse, an injustice if you will. Good-bye brownies, and oatmeal cookies and 7lbs of mashed potatoes. I'll see you later pasta maker. I suppose I can still use it to slice my veggies *sigh* Decisions, decisions.

It's Callisto from Xena - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callisto_%28Xena%29 Gotta love the evil hotness.

If you're asking where I got the actual icon from, I have no idea, I'm a thief.

You won some money! That's great. Let's see...you must purchase anything that will help you with your goal. Yes! That's it! Only on something that is full of nutrition or some kind of running gear. That is a great cause and a great way to get motivated to shed some pounds. Sounds like a great bunch to work with.

You are running in a 5k? Yesssssss! That is awsome! You can do it! You can run it and you can loose whatever it is you want to. I believe in you~yes I do!

I don't know if you will be able to use that brand new toy of yours. It's beautiful! Perhaps on some whole wheat bread of some sort.

Either way~Good Luck! I'm cheering for ya.

The problem is actually that I have now won 4x in a row! I have to let someone else host, they're already accusing me of cheating *g*

I hope to get back to a 5k, I miss running, and haven't done it for over a year now, it will be a long slog.

I just started walking again. I am in sad~sad shape. Not heaving or feeling faint, but Ive got a long way to go before I even think of jogging lightly. I'm so happy for you~honestly I am.

You? Cheating? Never!!! You can't help it if lady-luck has a slight crush on you at the moment. Let someone else host...she'll still follow you & favor you. Ha!

Very scary LOL :) I wish I could read 50 books a year, I haven't even started my first one yet , maybe today :) Although it is Corry tonight LOL. I sound like a TV addict but in fact I only *really* watch Corry and Emmerdale these are my 2 must not miss programmes

I could never get into Emmerdale for some reason. Lately I've found that my 'can't miss' list has gotten longer, I think the PVR is contributing to that, now I can tape the shows and watch them whenever I want. It is a bad habit I need to get out of.

I took went over the that community friended them and then immediately took them off the friends view. I think I will try to stay abreast of the community but more then likely I will head over there when I need ideas for a new book.

I have a membership to www.audible.com. For $20 a month I get two full audio book downloads. It's great but I have noticed I only get the books I have already read or from authors I know. I need to branch out and I hope at least having access to book community like that will give me new ideas.

I'm not sure I have the attention span to listen to audio books *g*, $20 seems like a good deal for 2 books though.

To break out of my usual patterns I go to chapters.ca (or amazon or whatever) and pick up random bargain books. I've gotten some pretty fantastic books for $5

Awesome on the girlie poker!! If it were me I'd spend it on a heart rate monitor or New Balance running shoes.

I love that the guys at work are doing "The Biggest Loser"- I think that's a great idea! Probably a lot more motivating since it's for charity.

And don't worry, your mixer will be good for years! Usually when I bake I make one for me and take the rest to work (or potluck, or give to my husband's work, etc.) but if you are doing TBL they might accuse you of sabotage!

Shoes are a great idea. The last pair I bought blister like crazy.

Sabotage hmm? What a great idea! *g*
