Feb. 9th, 2007 @ 08:47 pm I am on a roll!
I've had a MySpace account for a while now, but I've never really known what to do with it. I blog here and it seems that everyone else just sends glittery flashing pics to one another. Anyways, last night I decided to do a search based on my old HS, and ended up finding another bud from way back...I actually found 3 peeps I remember going to school with, but only really wanted to talk to this one. So I sent off a message, and am waiting to see if she feels like chatting.

Hubby calls me a stalker.

Stella wants me to find a mutual friend we both lost touch with.

But back to my opening thoughts - what the heck is the purpose of MySpace? If you have one, how do you use it? How is it different then the journaling/blogging you do here? What am I missing?

BTW - if I remembered you mentioning a MySpace I might have sent you a friend request. Yes, that was me *g*.
Who does she think she is?

I'm glad you found someone you want to get in touch with. That's cool! :) I generally just use my myspace to access bands and find out what's going on with them - tour dates, new releases, etc. I also use it to find new, interesting bands, although I haven't accessed it in awhile given the plague of the house.

I've just started checking out a bunch of bands and friends' bands. Thanks for the idea.

I use my myspace more of a "keep in contact with real people" type place.

I journal here, but my "blog" on myspace is mostly for just quizzes and surveys.

Most of my friends on myspace are people I knew in high school, college, co -workers, a couple of my wife's cousins and even a former student. However most of my live journal FL are people I've never met. For myspace I mainly just check up on old friend's and their lives. Nobody really does daily entries, but they'll post major life change type things.

My MySpace is just for other women/moms to post all their pics on their kids/hubby &/or pets. The normal comments are left during holidays and such. I don't post any blogs there because I am a LJ addict. It's just another one of my sites that I have to maintain just for the fun of it.

Hey... add me to your MySpace!

http://www.myspace.com/radiostace

I post much more private stuff here; I just use MySpace for open networking, sort of. I post there from time to time, but only things I wouldn't worry about someone like my mother reading. I even have 2 out of my 3 sisters listed there, but I'd never add them to my LJ!

I don't get myspace at all.

And you're hardly a stalker. I see you more as some one with superior detective skills. They're important in this day and age.

I have a myspace, which I rarely use as a bolg. However, after having one for months, I decided that I should try to "find" people. I actually ran across several people I went to school with. It took me a while to decide to send some of them messages and others I sent the messages out right away. The funny thing is. I am now back in touch with some of my older friends who I have not talked to in about 8 years. I can not explain how excited I was when some of them answered.

Anyhow, I use it as a way to keep in touch with people from my past that I would have probably never found without it as we are all scattered through out the US. I think most people just use it to leave notes/messages for friends on their pages or a way to contact each other... I dunno.

but I do hope you get in touch with your old friend. That is always so fun.

I had a Myspace account too, (like for two weeks, hehe!); I coudn't really get into it; It was, for me anyway, like somekind of a cyber superficial Bar. :D

But I think the main problem coud have been that I didn't know anyone to start with, with whom I could relate.

But it's great you having been able to find an old friend from High School like Stella, and evenually get in touch!

I neither, still don't know a specific purpose of it as you mentioned; like you say, it's kind of a journaling too, I guess. (gee, I am ignorant of most aspects of Myspace.:)
