Nov. 27th, 2007 @ 10:29 pm Dr.'s visit - 39w
Tags: ,
I know I won't be 39w until Friday, but my Doc was only available yesterday and today, and since I was last there on Friday, I decided on today.

The appointment was at 3:40 but hubby couldn't make it, and wouldn't you know - she was completely on time. Of course my blood pressure is up again since Friday *boo* so I'm now sitting borderline at 149/90. As she's away the rest of the week, she wants me to test on Saturday, at a drug store! Luckily I don't have any headaches and I'm not seeing spots, so she's not terribly concerned, but wants to track it. And wouldn't you know it, I had to go get blood work and do a urine protein test.

I didn't bother telling her I shovelled the laneway this morning, I didn't think that was on my list of recommended activities. But if it iced over, I wouldn't be able to get out anyways, so I feel justified.

My next appointment is next Wednesday at 11:20 - she's doubled booked for the whole morning as she's flying out at 2. Should be an interesting visit.

One weird thing - she said to me today, 'well now that you are 39 weeks you are most at risk for having the baby. The highest risk is between 39 and 41 weeks'

Really? Risk? I thought that was pretty weird language. To my mind pregnancy and birth aren't an illness.
Who does she think she is?

Oh it's all good now, she basically gave me the 'okay' to deliver any time after 37w (considered full term). I also come from good strong Polish stock, so if my 95 year old grandmother can shovel her laneway, I see no reason why a pregnant 37-year old can't *g*.

I am getting more and more freaked out by the day though, I seem to be worrying more now than I did the past 8 months.
