Dec. 14th, 2005 @ 10:13 am Scrooges everywhere!
Last week my hubby decided that he did not want Christmas or birthday gifts from my family (his birthday is Christmas). This week, my brother and sister-in-law followed suit. Now, I understand not giving gifts just for the sake of having something to give someone, and I generally do the bulk of my Christmas shopping the week before Christmas, but I know well in advance what I want to get people and often, if I see something they will like I will pick it up any time throughout the year - sometimes I give them up right away, sometimes I save them for occassions. It appears I'm now the proud owner of stuff I have no use for, but would be perfect for people that don't want to receive it. Asshats!
Who does she think she is?

Aw, crap. That's not a fun position to be in. I sort of have that this year, where I bought a little something for everyone, yet we do a sister gift exchange, so there's only one sis I'm supposed to buy for. I'll just give the gifts anyway. :)

I'm sure you've mentioned that about your husbands birthday before... my hubby's birthday is Christmas Day too! :)

Ya - they went into this whole 'respect my wishes' thing... I think I'll just give them out randomly at other times *g*

My partners and I generally do not give gifts to each other and haven't for years because "it is that time of year" (Christmas, Channuka or even birthdays). We prefer to just give gifts when we see something we think someone would like when we find it, whenever that might be.

Kids are different... but not that much. We spoil the kids. Always have.

It's funny, my hubby is really weird about me spending money on him, and it seems that his birthday/Christmas is an 'allowable' time. Personally, I'm happy with gifts all any time...
