Not only was he a first responder who survived, but he spent countless hours digging at the site afterwards. He is as much a casualty of the attacks as the people who died immediately after the collapse. I hope he is awarded the same status as the other first responders. He managed to escape the first attack, but his work at the site cost him his life, and his daughter her parent. He raced in with the same abandon, hoping to make a difference in the face of personal danger.
