Other than the obvious and expected differences between hubby and I, there are subtle ones that continue to surprise me, and once I learn of them, they can provide me with hours of entertainment. We have very different cooking/preparing styles. Hubby measures, I do not. Hubby follows recipes, I do not. I know what the filter should look like in order to brew a pot of coffee, he knows its a 1/4 cup of extra fine grind. I heap a bunch of chocolate mix into my mug, he follows the directions (they call for 3 tablespoons). Even when I am 'following' a recipe, its more of a general guide than the law. Recipes are inspiration for me, I use them as a base and modify them for the ingredients at hand. So what if I start out with a recipe for Chicken Fettucine and end up with Tuna Casserole? Something in the recipe inspired me. I know what cookie batter should feel and look like and will add or omit portions of ingredients as I see fit. This has occassionally meant that I've ended up with 6lbs of icing, but you don't see me complaining!
Anyways, there is a point to this rambling, and it is not that I am a menace in the kitchen. I was at the health food store today and I broke down in the middle of the store. You see, one of the things hubby likes to have around are muffin mix so that he can whip up a few whenever he likes. There I found the perfect muffin mix and recipe:
2-3 cups of mix 1 cup of water Add fruit if you'd like Bake 15-20 min at 350-400F
How could I not buy it? It was a recipe written just for me!
