Well, things are progressing slowly. I had a chat with the rescue sponsor the other day, and she forwarded me a picture of the little girl (below). She also put me in contact with the current foster mom (they are going away and need to find a new foster), but I haven't heard from her yet. I've just sent off an email asking for a contact time, I can't wait to meet Sasha, and have Chet meet her too. She looks like an complete sweetheart.

Apparently, everyone is fooled into thinking she is a Malamute by her head and the way she photographs, but when you meet her, you realize she is mostly Husky:

ETA: For those that are curious about the differences, here are the breed standards:

Really, there is a difference!

Who does she think she is?

*sigh* I don't think I could tell the difference between a Malamute & a Husky to save my life!

It doesn't help that they are interbred too, so you end up with crosses that have most of one characteristic, but little bits of the other. Mals are bigger and bulkier, Huskies more delicate (well, as delicate as a 60lb dog can be!)

She's a real beauty! How will you ever give her up?

Well, I'm hoping they find her a forever home real soon, then I won't be too attached.

Isn't she? She's apparently got an amazing temperament too. I'm going to have to haul my dude 2 hours away to find out if they get along, hoping to do that this weekend.

Ah, Chet gets his revenge by digging lovely cooling holes all over our yard in the summer. *g*

But seriously, with the widespread use of A/C and their insulating coats they really aren't that bad off. I feel bad for northern dogs that live in places that never see snow, it really is something to see them frollick.
