Randomly in the media

Mumps outbreak in Iowa - I did not know you could die from the mumps. And holy cow! 100,000 cases of the mumps in 2 years in the UK? I find it extremely interesting that it is being reported that the majority of the cases are in people who were vaccinated for this.

http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/Opinion/Editorials/2006/04/19/1539840.html - I'm fairly sure Rousseau had something to say about this, must go find my Social Contract.

And for all you that were afraid to Rrrrroll up the Rrrrim - Tim Horton's has settled the issue by using the schoolyard 'finders keepers' rule. Rather fitting considering the girl found it in her schoolyard. IMHO any other decision would have been utter bs and may have caused me to boycott Timmie's.

I've seen Dennis Quaid on Jay and now on the Daily Show, pushing American Dreamz and I never knew he was that funny. I think I have to see that movie...based solely on his pimping out the show. Really though, after his little schtick with the megaphone on Jay, I should be very upset. It gave hubby ideas.

Bad idea department

Okay, I know advertisers have their panties in a twist, but I'm not sure I like the idea of being forced to watch adverts - and neither, apparently, do a bunch of folks over at slashdot - http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/04/18/2032219.

I know that this will not go over well with my hubby, how will he be able to keep track of 3 shows at the same time? And hockey fans at playoff time? There will be rioting in the streets. The insidiousness of this technology know no bounds, CBC will find some way of using it while Don Cherry is blathering on, forcing his xenophobic idiocy on the innocent hockey-viewing public. Yes Don, we need to take advice from a man that can't count to 5. Go Ice Dogs!

I think blaming Tivo and PVRs is a rather easy excuse. There's a reason commercials sound louder and "don't touch that dial" has been a catchphrase for so long.
