Okay, so it's a sock, but I really wanted a 't' word.

A long, long time ago, in a country not so far away, a group of mighty knitters (don't worry, I won't be able to keep this up) purchased copies of Lucy Neatby's Cool Socks, Warm Feet. The wise and purple-haired sage gives not only a bunch of patterns, but she also gives some really great ideas on unique things to do with the various self-striping yarns that are available. So, still several years ago this jester to the knitters started on some socks, in a checkerboard pattern, which changed on the colour change. (really it makes sense). I also did a short-row heel, which I loved, easy-peasy and no picking up side stiches. I put the sock away shortly after turning the first heel. Several weeks ago, I finished the first sock and started on the second. When I got the heel, I did it the same as the first, over 60% of the stitches and then barrelled down my second foot. Sounds good so far right?

This is where I was attacked by the stupids. You can see my silly error if you look really close (sorry my camera appears to have lost the ability to focus):

Yes, that's right I didn't move the stitches back and the pattern was 8 stitches too short. You know what that means. Sock carnage:

It was terrible, stitches leaping to their death! Wool ripped from its tidy pattern! And the resulting carcass:

Recovery started on Sunday:

And here I sit with warm toes and dead camera batteries!

So I thought I'd share:

Him: you and your crazy old school paper
Me: tell me about it! If you had the 'puter problems I've had wouldn't you? I mean, my desk rarely catches fire.
