Had my first softball game tonight, second for the team but I sat out last week. I was completely freaked out before the game, to the point of nearly backing out. I haven't played in about 10 years, I didn't know anyone on the team other than my sis and her finace. Its a B tier team (A being the highest level).
Turns out I did just fine. I made contact with the ball each time at bat and even made it to base on errors 2x. The catching I'll have to work on. They appear to be a great bunch of peeps. They won something like 24 -4 last week and I think the score this week was 27 -6 against us. The way my sis described it to me was that they play softball so they can get together to drink afterwards. I think I'm going to like this.
New nagging fear is that they are accepting me now, but will get sick of my crappy play in a few weeks. (sigh) I really have to get over this.
Oh - and I did manage to get injured, throw came in from the field and managed to hit my calf just past where the shin-guards cover. Got a great round bruise starting. You know, for a person that doesn't bruise easily, I'm sure getting enough of them lately.
