Mac confusion

So the Macbook Air looks pretty cool - http://www.macworld.com/article/131583/2008/ 01/macbookair.html, although I'm fairly sure I'd snap it in half just trying to stuff it in my knapsack, but I really need to know why they are going with such a slow (old) drive - a 4200RPM PATA drive? And only 80Gig of storage? What am I missing?
