Jul. 31st, 2008 @ 11:04 pm Found that cat, got my tongue back.
Apparently I have run out of things to say. This is what happens when you are home for 8 months and you don't only want to talk about your child.

That said, here is the kid talk:

We both came down with a wonderful cold, yes another one, about a month ago, and it was really only last week that V was feeling better. On top of that, she has gotten 2 teeth in the last two weeks, her bottom centre left two weeks ago and bottom centre right last week.

End of kid talk.

Hubby has been on vacation for the past two weeks, and while it hasn't exactly been event-filled, we've had a really good time, and he's gotten a lot of time with V. Last Sunday we packed the baby, the cat and the two dogs (and a metric ass-load of stuff!) into our car and truck and headed up to our family cottage for the week. Although it rained every day, some days torrentially, we had a great time. We were slightly worried that the roads would wash out, and there was a lot of damage in spots but they were still passable. The dogs were their usual freaked out selves about the thunder and lightning and the cat was pretty chill. I worked on a puzzle a couple of nights when V actually slept! We watched Sideways, and hubby watched Max. Unfortunately we also watched Fargo (inspired by hubby renting the wood chipper earlier this year - he'd never seen it). We spent at least 1/2 the week imitating Fargoian *g* accents.

This week we've been a bit tourist, a bit hibernating. We went to Parliament Hill on Monday to see the changing of the guard and tomorrow we are headed out to the Diefenbunker. This weekend is The Glengarry Highland Games, I'm not sure I can talk hubby in to that one, but I might try. It's also Buskerfest which he might agree to.

We also managed some home improvements, new screen doors, window washing, deck washing, slate tile on the fireplace surround...I think it would have been nice to get a bit more done, either fun or work, but I'll admit that the new PVR has been a bad influence on me. For almost a year now I've had to watch TV at the time it's on, and that's drastically reduced my tv watching to almost only Corrie. Now the PVR scans all these shows, yes, magically and on it's own, I didn't program it at all. We came home from our week away to 67 events on the HD. Time to tune those timers a bit.

The only thing really missing from this summer is the weather. While we've had a few nice days, almost every day has had some amount of rain. We aren't getting those hot, gorgeous sunny days. All of the rain means that the mosquitoes are ridiculously bad, so we are thankful for the screened shelter we bought, and there are some pretty cool mushrooms sprouting up all over the place. But really, if I wanted this much rain I'd move to Victoria.

I managed to gain 5 lbs these past two weeks, which is a bit of a bummer as I'd just hit my pre-preggo weight, I'm still 30 lbs overweight, but pre-preggo was a big one for me. Clearly my plan of sitting on my butt and doing nothing almost paid off, but I have a feeling it won't do for the rest.

We are still randomly looking for a new house. We don't actually have a strong desire to move, by that I mean there really isn't anything wrong with this house, but we're keeping our options open. It would be nice to be out of a high ranch, where you have to climb stairs to get anywhere. Hubby is still kicking himself about the one that got away down the street, so we figure there is something better out there.

Oh ya, I also managed to fry the battery in this laptop, so we know that my curse continues, and it isn't linked to my being at work. Being tied to one spot with a laptop is so frustrating! It seriously impedes my quality internet time. I'm so used to just looking stuff up on a whim, it's like I've dropped my entire brain somewhere. Yesterday I couldn't remember how to find the square root of a number and I had no Google to turn to!

And my laptop now decides to randomly hibernate, which is much fun and doesn't cause me to curse at all. On that note, I should sleep before my machine does.
Who does she think she is?

mosquitoes - ugh no. I think that's why I love England so much, none of those horrid things here.

Do you not come from the land of rain? How is it that they are not the size of pterodactyl? A land without mosquitos...very interesting.
