I can't believe how this summer has flown by. I had plans man! I've been reading posts from many Americans talking about how their children started school last week, and I've been thinking 'Silly Americans, starting school in the middle of summer!' While this is technically true, it's the freaking end of August! When did this happen and why didn't I get the memo?

Not only did I have plans, but I had a list. Our list of summer jobs had 19 items on it. Hubby attacked it with much enthusiasm, getting things done while I cleared out to the cottage. Of the nineteen items, 9.5 remain, and of those 5 are ones that I'm supposed to do *sigh*. So I now have 25 days to finish them off. That and finish re-doing my gardens. I still have at least 5 plants I have to get planted, and a bunch of stuff I have to divide up to make room. I'm sure I'll be done before the frost hits.

The other day I got the brilliant idea to make my mother's birthday gift. She'll really like it, and it's a good idea; whether I can get it started and completed in the next 27 days remains to be seen.

In a moment where I imagined living in an alternate reality, I asked for and received over 100 sewing patterns from a fellow Freecycler last night. When do I think I'm going to have time to sew any additional just for fun projects? A girl can dream of her child napping for more than 40 minutes once a day I guess.

As for additional acts of craziness, hubby and I started looking at a new dishwasher (I'm sure I've mentioned my burning hatred for our current one) and an over-range microwave. This has now turned into a search for a new fridge and stove too, but hasn't yet spiraled into new counters, cabinets, flooring and backsplash. The potential is there, but we've managed to keep it in check so far...although I'd really love to ditch the current backsplash.

The good news is that my house has gone from the complete chaos of a new child moving in and uprooting 12 years (who am I kidding - 37 years) of junk hoarding to a few key areas of concern. I mean, while we can't yet use the dining room, there is room to sit in the living room and I'm hoping to get a sewing room set up in the next week or so, and that will give us back the dining room and it will allow me to dream that I'll be able to get some sewing done.

(Baha - I'm so tired I just checked my mail and started reading my astronomy group Yahoo digest and thought I was reading a sewing digest. I couldn't figure why someone was selling a 10" Meade to my sewing list)
