Well, I am now officially bikeless. *sigh* The past two rides I've had on her have been the most cruel. She's a really great bike, the new front tire is awesome, and with the factory bar ends there is virtually no vibration - I can actually feel my hands at the end of a ride.

My baby My baby

One last look at her.

Here's what $2000 worth of cosmetic damage looks like.

Hubby has suggested an 86 Ninja 1000, but it is 4 years older and 200 lbs heavier. I think I will take a look at the local bike shop on the 1st, they are having a ride day. I'd like to give the 599 (naked 6) and the 600F4i a try - if nothing else, I'll see what I'm missing.
Who does she think she is?

I'm behind. Was it totalled or did you just decide the damages weren't worth fixing? I'd kick that co-worker's ass, man.

I sold it to him. It was 2500 damages and I could have gotten 3500 for it before it was dropped. So he paid for the mechanical repairs, then bought it as if it hadn't been dropped. I got fair price for it, (which I wouldn't have selling it to anyone else), he didn't throw 2500 away for nothing, and I've learned my lesson.

It's easy to say, 'you break it, you bought it' but to actually go through with it, hurts a bit.

Okay, so maybe I wouldn't kick the co-worker's ass then. :P I'm sorry this happened, I know you'd rather have the bike, but at least you didn't get screwed.

If you love it so, why didn't you have him pay to fix it then keep it yourself? Sorry if this is wicked old news and I missed a post or two about it. I've been a wee bit out of the loop over the last month!

Nah - basically because I'm stupid. My policy is you break it you bought it, and he did just that. He saw more value in paying me to buy the bike than in throwing 2.5k at me just to fix it and getting nothing for it.

It's someone I have to work closely with, so I felt like I was screwing him if I was a bitch and when it first happened I wasn't feeling that attached to the bike.

Since then, I've been feeling kinda bitter about it, and it appears he's being a bit of an ass, but what's done is done. I'm going to take the money, invest it and see what I can come up with *g*

Can you get another one just like it then? Guess you won't be letting anyone else ride your bike EVER again! :-)
