As I was studying for my Critical Nationalism class hubby brought me home some chocolate. Smarties, mmm, with little maple leaves on them. Papineau is rolling over in his grave. Funny that the symbol of the St. Jean Baptiste society would become the national symbol for Canada. Nobody like the Brits to take a french symbol, then write a song about it, and include lyrics about them defeating the French! I'll now return to eating my chocolate. |
EDIT:Traditional smarties come in all sorts of colours - red, blue, brown, pink, green, yellow and purple. Here is of their old advertising jingles, which I now have stuck in my head:
